MY MOM HAS ONLY WEEKS LEFT TO LIVE.MY HOUSE IS IN BOTH HER NAME AND MINE, HOWEVER, IN JULY MY SIBLING GOT HER TO SIGN POWER OF ATTORNEY GIVING HIM ALL POWER TO MAKE DECISIONS REGARDING ALL PROPERTY. HE THREATENED ME AND TOLD ME THAT I SHOULD HAVE SIGNED SOME LAND TRUST PAPERS, AND BECAUSE I DID NOT, HE NOW SAYS HE OWNES 1/2 OF MY PROPERTY .WHAT CAN I DO NOW TO PROTECT MYSELF ?MY MOM IS STILL COHERRANT AND ALIVE.
Hi kmiami!
Welcome to forums!
I do not think you have much chance as your mother has already signed a power of attorney. As your mother is alive, she can revoke the power of attorney. If you feel that your sibling has made your mother sign the power of attorney under a false pretense, then you can challenge him/her in the court.
Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
