I have power of attorney over my husband who has dementia.Would it be wise to take him off the title of the home. I,m not that well off and would like to keep this home to pass it on to my children. at this time he is being treated at the va and I,m afraid that if anything were to happen to him that he would have to be placed in a home, what are my recourses
If he gets placed in a home there is a 5 yr look back on the assets. So, you cant just empty his accounts to hide the money. The deed on your home is not as important because they cannot take your home to pay for his nursing home. I suggest that you speak with an estate attorney.
