Hi
I live in Florida, I am divorced , my ex-husband and myself own a condo,
both are in the Tittle, I am the retainer exclusive use and possession of the condo. My ex has debts in credit cards and the companies said they will put the lien on it. How can I make sure I will not loose my condo.

Hi Regina,
Welcome to the forum.
Credit card debts are considered as unsecured debts. So, I don't think your creditors can be able to place a lien against your house which is a secured property. But, there are chances that they can place a lien on your husband's other personal assets. In that case, he will have to pay off the lien by selling those assets.

I think you has divorced with your husband and you are also the exclusive user and possess of the condo. So, I think it's illegal that the company want to place a lien on the condo. though you and your husband own the condo in the past time together, but now, you and your husband has divorced. but, if your husband transfered the conjunct property after your husband was in debt. maybe, there is a little cheating suspicion to void evade payment.
your husband are in debts in credit cards. so ,the company only place a lien on his private property not yours. so ,you won't lose your property.
This is myslelf opinion. you'd better be according larry's opinion. (I have read your similar post.)
