Loan assuption, insurance for renters

Posted on: 30th Dec, 2010 05:12 pm
My mother recently passed, I am the executor and beneficiary of her will. I've sent papers into BofA for the qualifying assumption of her loan, but from what I'm reading, this could take a while. I need to rent the house in order to keep it, but need to have my name somewhere on it before insurance will consider me legally for landlord insurance. What can I do? The house is in FL -- I'm in AZ.
Hi buccsgirl,

You will have to probate the will in order to get the property transferred in your name. Once your name is on the property deed, you'll be able to get a landlord insurance.

There is no probate on the estate -- in FL, it has to exceed $75k and it doesn't. So without having that hassle, what next?

Hi buccsgirl!

Welcome to forums!

In such a situation, you should contact a real estate attorney and he will help you in getting the property transferred in your name.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
