after my grandfather passed, i bought my mothers half of the home that i had taken care of my grandfather in. all three of our names were on the mortgage. since the house was paid for, i only had to get a mortgage for half of the appraised value.
she now wants me to sign a quit claim deed, even though the house is already in my name.
i am leary of this because i don't really understand the quit claim deed. i am also leary because my grandfather had left the house to me free and clear, but since it wasn't in his will, she saw some dollar signs.
thanks

Welcome chrisshane.
Is it that your mother wants you to take your name off the house? I think a Will would have solved the problem. But a verbal agreement doesn't work especially when it comes to legal matters and those of property issues.
I suggest that you go through the information on quit claim deed and then talk to your mother regarding what exactly she wants to do with this.
Thanks.
