deed

there has recently turned up a deed which has my name on it as the grantee and has been this way since 1986. i looked into this because my name was on something that i was not aware of and now i've found out that this property is back in the grantor's name, who originally gave it to me, and she is now giving it to someone else under a quit claim deed and i didn't sign anything. is this legal? it went from this woman to me on a deed and then from that same woman to someone else, without me doing anything as the grantee???? sounds strange to me. help
Hi Sue.

Welcome to the forum.

If the quitclaim deed is notarized and recorded in the county recorder's office then the deed is a valid deed and she cannot quitclaim it again. I think you should go for a title search to know who is on the title of the property.

Feel free to ask if you have further questions.

Best of luck,
Larry
