my husband died 2 years ago. i would like to refinance my 1st mortgage and 2nd mortgage into one, was told i need to take his name off my deed?? how do i go about doing this and why??

Hi pattyj,

You can file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office in order to get the property transferred in your name. Once the property is transferred in your name, then you can refinance both the loans into one.
