hello,
my parents recently refinanced their home in california. over the decades that they've had the home they were always listed as "joint tenants" on the deed. with the recent refinance it seems that the new deed does not show "joint tenants" anymore, but just says "as husband and wife". they never knowingly signed or agreed to anything that would change this.
is there a major mistake here, or do you think the title company/lender could have snuck this change in? if it's a joint tenancy, does it have to say "joint tenancy" or does "husband and wife" also mean the same?
this refinance is under a week old; what should they do to ensure they retain their joint tenancy?
thank you very much for any input you provide!

Hi jamesonmonroe,
Your parents can get in touch with an attorney or the title company and check out if they can change ownership status of the deed. If there is a change, then the lender also has to be informed.

Hi jamesonmonroe,
I agree with what Adonis has suggested. You should immediately get in touch with a real estate attorney in this matter.
Thanks
