remove a joint tenant from a mortgage

My ex-partner is refinancing our jointly owned apartment so that I can be removed from the mortgage. I was given a letter to sign (from him to the bank/mortgage holder) saying that I no longer wish to be a responsible party on the mortgage. Is this my only involvement in the process?

though you sign the letter, your ex-partner should refinance the loan in his name. once he does so, you won't remain liable for the mortgage dues any longer.
