Removing a name from a deed

Posted on: 15th Aug, 2009 08:23 am
I was the sole heir to some land. Later added my sister with life time rights to the land. she convince me to add my daughters and my neices to the deed. Now I want to remove their names from the deed and add my brother. Can I just remove them by signature or will I have to get an attorney to have their names removed?

Hi Diva!

Welcome to forums!

You cannot remove your sister, daughter or niece from the property yourself. You will have to ask them to sign a quitclaim deed in your favor and get their name removed. Once their name is removed, then you can add your brother's name to the property deed.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
