Does the deed release you from responsibilty to pay the mortgage?
Once the note is released to you, then you own the home free and clear.
If you have paid your mortgage off, you should contact the servicer for a lein release. Most times they will send one automatically.
Then you take it to the courthouse, there will be a small fee, and you file it. Once you do that, the deed is owned by you free and clear.
