Revoking or disclaiming life estate interest

Posted on: 15th Apr, 2010 08:17 am
when a person uses a quit claim deed to transfer property, but retains a life estate interest, can that person revoke that interest before he or she dies (not revoking the quit claim, simply wants to divest herself of the life interest)?

thank you.
Hi pjbeckman!

Welcome to forums!

As far as I know, it is possible to give away the life estate interest before the person dies. However, in order to do so, the person may have to sign a property deed. Thus, he or she will have to contact an attorney in this regard.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
