My boyfriend has been seperated for 7 years and is in the process of filing for a divorce. We want to buy a home together, but I am concerned that his wife can get the property in the divorce. How do we protect the property so she doesn't get it in the divorce. Both states are not community property states.
Thanks for you help

Welcome Claudiva,
You can buy the property in your name. If your boyfriend is not on the property, then his ex-wife won't be able to claim any rights toward the property. Or else, you and your boyfriend should buy the property after his divorce is final.
