Heir Property

Posted on: 06th Apr, 2010 09:07 pm
Hi,

My parents died without a will. I moved in the home in 2002. I have maintained the taxes and filed an affadavit of heirship to transfer the property into my name. I have to half brothers. Both deceased parents are my mom and dad. Can my brothers make me sell the house for their 25% each?
Hi kimmy,

If you've transferred the property in your name by filing an affidavit of heirship, then you would be considered as the owner of the property. I don't think your half brothers will be able to force you to sell off the property.

Thanks
