Sign documents

My boyfriend and I are in a steady relationship. Till now, we were living in a rented apartment but now he is buying a house which will be solely in his name. He has asked me to come to the attorney's place to sign a document which says that the house is solely his. What is this all about? Should I sign it?
Hi VMN,

I guess he is asking you to sign something like an inter-spousal deed where the other spouse does not have any rights to the said property. Nevertheless, I will suggest you to read through the document carefully and then sign on it. Remember that no one can force you to sign any document.

Take care

Hi VMN!

Welcome to the forums!

I agree with what Sara has said. It will be better if you could take some time and read through the documents carefully in order to know what you are signing on. If you find any clause that is derogatory to your interest, you can refuse to sign the document.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Make sure you read the documents very carefully before you may sign them. Thus, there will not be any misunderstanding between both of you in future.
