This person was told none of us wanted to have anything to do with the trailor or land once our father was cremated. The next thing we know we get a deed in the mail saying the land and trailor is ours and taxes are due in Oct. Can she leagally just drop this property with its debt in our laps when she had been repeatedly told we wanted nothing to do with it? She also signed my grandfather's name to the bill of sale and the deed saying she was his attorney in fact and they sold it to us for $10 which none of us paid. If possible please clairify any or all point. We could us any help in which way to go.
Hi caposey1374
Welcome to mortgagefit
I think she has done this in order to get free from the taxes on the properties.
My first simple question to you.........whether the appraised property value is more than the tax owed to government by the owner?
If it is more than the tax amount then surely you need to fight back.If it is not then just sell this property to someone else and pay taxes, differed amount could be your profit from this deal.
Now considering the first preposition that tax amount is greater than the actual value of property... In this case you can write a letter to local (where property is located) county officer explaining them about the whole scenario and I think it will surely help you.
Regarding your doubt about
"can someone sign property over to you without your permission along with three other people ?"
Yes,it is possible.Because if it is mentioned in the will and probation is carried out then it will directly assigned on the person's name without his signatories aka permission.
