Taking someone off title

Posted on: 03rd Feb, 2011 02:49 pm
My brother and I were given undeveloped land in Lancaster, CA. Property has been in our family for over 20 years and we want to sell property but when my father purchased it, he had some friends purchase it with him. We had been paying for all the property taxes and we dont know how to contact the other parties. What can we do about removing the other parties off title since we dont have any clue how to contact the other parties. We cannot sell the property without their consent.
Hi hongtony,

Unless the other parties sign a quitclaim deed in your favor, you won't be able to sell off the property. You should contact a real estate attorney and he will help you in tracing the other owners and selling off the property.

Thanks
