My Grandfather signed his house over to his sons back in 2001, not 1 month after the passing of his wife. He has a life estate in the house. Whose responsibility is it to pay the real estate taxes, and is there anyway he can get his house back?
Who has the life estate, the sons? who ever has the life estate is required to keep up on the home taxes and insurance. If the party of the life estate dies, then it would revert to the previous party who granted the estate.
Hi Nikki,
Well, as far as I know, whoever is the owner of property will be liable for paying the property taxes. He/she will also be liable for the maintenance of the property.
Thanks
