Spouse on deed

Posted on: 06th Aug, 2009 01:57 pm
Hi,

I am in the process of buying a house. The loan is in my name only. I have not signed the final papers. The closing is not until next week. At this point can I elect not to have my spouse on the deed?

Thanks
VJ
I do not think there shoudl be any issue with that.

Hi vickie,

It would be your spouse's and your decision whether or not you want to include him/her on the property deed. If your spouse is already on the property deed, then you can ask him/her to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property to you. Thus, your spouse won't have any ownership rights to the property.

Thanks
