Hello. What is the best deed to use if one divorced person is transferring to another divorced person land in california? (Husband and wife, divorced). I don't trust my husband's lawyer at all. I received an interspousal transfer deed from her and my former husband's last name is spelled incorrectly. He crossed out the misspelled name, corrected it and initialed it. Also, the name on the interspousal deed is not the same as the name on the deed. Doesn't it have to be exact? In addition my middle name is misspelled on the grant deed.
Welcome Terry,
An inter-spousal deed can be used during divorce to transfer property from one spouse to another. However, the name of your spelling should be correctly mentioned in it. If the name on the original property deed and the inter-spousal deed are not same, then you should inform the attorney about it and get it rectified.
