How do I add someone to the deed on my house

Posted on: 05th Feb, 2011 05:28 am
21 years ago I bought and financed a house only in my name and on my credit report. However for all those years my significant other has paid 1/2 of all expenses. His name is not on the title or mortgage how do I go about getting his name on the deed, so that if something happened to me he would be the owner of the property. I would not want it to go to any of my other heirs.
Hi illem,

You will have to sign a quitclaim deed in order to add your partner's name to the property deed. This will make him one of the owners of the property.
