Hello,
My fiance and I recently purchase a house, it was done under his name only, due to my credit not been in goode shape.
We now need to add my name to the property as owner as well, since i'm paying half the mortgage.
Is it as simple as filling a Quick Claim deed? if so how do i go about obtaining the form and filling it, and will it cost anything?

Hi Elisa,
Yuu can go to a real estate attorney to get it done (not free), or you can go to your local office supply store, fill it out, get it notorized, and take it to your local courthouse to get it recorded. It usually doesn't cost more that $50 total.

Hi Elisa!
Welcome to Forums!
Quictclaim deed is the easiest way to add your name to the title of the property. You will get online quitclaim deed forms which you can fill up and get it notarized and recorded. However, you should remember that quitclaim deed forms vary according to state, so it is better if you draft the form from an attorney.
Feel free to ask if you have further queries.

I was told this is the way to complete a quit claim to just add a name.... you can purchase a quit claim form at like office max, office depot.
Grantor: Him (current person's name on title)
Grantee: (His) Name (YOUR) Name husband and wife as joint tenants (you may want to make sure joint tenant is right for you) with right of survivorship.
Legal description etc..... (you can get this off of the mortgage paper or the original deed).... both sign it have it notarized and take it to the recorder of deeds in the county where located. I hope this helped somewhat, I was told it's always best to use a lawyer for this stuff. But filling in the form should be straight forward remember to name both of you in the grantee part or the title will only go to the one named there.
