we purchased a house about 10 years ago and during the initial purchase my husband told me he wanted to use his credit to get a better deal. we would refinance and have my name added so i agreed and gave him my share of the down payment. we refinanced and i found out my name is still not on the deed. we have seperate accounts and but we ech have what bills we are responsible for. we tried to have a lawyerr help us but my husband thinks he is being asked to give me 50 percent of his deed.we live in a communal property state, i want my name on the deed, what are my options
Hi mavisgtm,
You can ask your husband to sign a quitclaim deed and add your name to the property deed, This will formally make you the owner of the property.
Thanks
