i just bought a condo and want to add my married sister to the deed. i live in michigan and do not what my brother-inlaw to have interest in the property. how should the wording be on the quitclaim deed form? joint tenancy with rights of survivorship?
you cna doa quit claim deed and add your sister to the property
but your sister is married and if she gets ownership in this property after her marriage, then probably her husband will have legal rights on the property if they divroce or soemthign happnes to her

Hi bhicks!

As far as I know, Michigan is not a community property state. So, once you add your sister to the property, it is she who would have rights to it. Your brother-in-law will not have any rights to that property as his name would not be present on the property deed. You can use a quitclaim deed in order to add your sister's name to the property deed.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Did you purchase the condo with a mortgage? If yes, your Note probably contains a due-on-sale clause that prohits you from modifying Title while the Mortgage is in place.
If you do quit claim deed, you alsoneed to inform the lender
