my husband and i bought the house before we were married, and are listed ont he deed as tenants in common. we now want to change it to joint tenency with right of survivorship. someone told me i need to file a quit claim deed. is that true? how do i go about filing such a document? where can i find it, or do i need to see a lawyer for that? thank you.
Hi Alexandra!

You can use a quit claim deed in order to change the ownership of the property as joint tenancy with right of survivorship. You can contact an attorney and he will help you in drafting the deed. Once the deed is filled out properly, you'll have to notarize it and record it at the county recorder's office.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
