Quit Claim Deed

Posted on: 23rd Aug, 2013 10:55 am
My brother and I inherited my fathers house, both our names are on the deed. Now my brother has no further intrest in property so I am going to file quit claim to take his name off and put me/my husbands name on deed. Where stated "Grantor" do I put my brothers name alone, or both of our names, since we are both currently Grantors on present deed?
Hi Christie,

You cannot file the quitclaim deed. It is your brother who needs to sign a quitclaim deed and and transfer the property to your husband and you. It will be better if you and your brother can take help of an attorney in this regard.

Thanks

Hi Christie!

Welcome to the forums!

I agree with Adonis. The attorney will not only assist you with the whole process but he will also draft the quitclaim deed for you.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
