Hi I am recently divorced. I bought a house on my own but since my new tx drivers license hadn't arrived during the time of closing the bank and title company told me that they would have to put the paperwork (deed) under my married name even though I was legally divorced. they told me that I could change it back to my maiden name as when I got my drivers license with my now maiden name on it. How do I go about switching my married name on my deed to my maiden name
Hi falgout,
You can use a quitclaim deed in order to switch your married name to your maiden name. While filling out the quitclaim deed, you should write your married name as the grantor of the property and the maiden name as the grantee to the property.
