Does Quitclaim cover the contents of the property?

Posted on: 05th Apr, 2010 05:15 pm
We're having to deal with the estate of our parents several years after their death. Dad did a quitclaim deed to our elder sister, who had stayed and cared for him until his death.

Our question is whether the deed also includes all the contents of the house and property. Our interest is merely to go through the momentos, papers, photos, etc. and so on. The sister has taken out a reverse mortgage on the house for her debts and taxes -- which is OK with us as the house hasn't that much value and she has the need.

The greater question deals with the papers , photos, momentos, etc.
Hi Ray!

Welcome to forums!

As far as I know, the quit claim deed conveys any title, interest, or claim of the grantor in the real property. However, as your sister is the owner of the property now, you can take her permission and check out the papers, photos, mementos, etc.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
