I am helping my father write a letter to his brothers and sisters asking that they sign to convey their interest in the property that is under my grandmothers estate to my father. My father was given this property by word of mouth, there is no will and he has lived on this property all his life. Should I use the word convey or quitclaim?
Hi Guest,
Your father's siblings will have to quitclaim their interest in the property to your father. They will have to sign a quitclaim deed in order to remove their name from the property deed. So, in my opinion, you can use the word quitclaim in the letter. Your father can even consult an attorney and get the letter drafted from him.
Thanks
