SSI and quit deed

can i file a quit claim deed to my daughter if i receive ssi? the loan is in default right now. she could then get a loan and bring the payment up to date and continue with payments till it can be sold. we live in wva . since i receive ssi would that be allowed?
Though you receive SSI, you would be able to sign a quit claim deed and transfer the property to your daughter. Once you do that, she needs to contact your lender and refinance the loan in her name.

Thank you so much! If the house becomes hers and it is sold in the future will SSI count the money from the sell against me ? What will SSI say if I no longer have the house as an asset? I dont think you are allowed to gift any assests over to your children. Would this be considered a gift?

Hi Katiefreegirl!

Welcome to forums!

Once you transfer the property, you're not liable for it any more. If the new buyer sells it off, then he would receive the money and not you. Thus, I don't think this would affect your SSI.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
