quit claim deed

Posted on: 17th Oct, 2008 06:03 pm
in 2004 my parents signed a quit claim deed for land and have been making payments ever since. now the grantor (my mom's mom) is claiming she never authorized them to own the land. she claims she told them they could make the payments only but not own the property. in 2006 the land began earning money for oil rights (that;'s when problems arose with grantor). she has now filed a law suit suiing them for the land back and claiming they tricked her.
for decades my parents supported her financially and with room and board. she has never worked a day in her entire life, the reason my parents agreed to quit claim was because she was having health problems, so they left california to reside in arkansas and care for her. her allegation is simply not true, but what can be done now?
Hi deborah!

If the allegations are not true and as she had already filed a law suit, it is time that you also take some legal help. You can consult an expert who will be able to guide you in a better way to challenge the claims of the grantor.

Thanks.

Hi deborah!

You can take some legal help and file a law suit against your grandmother. If the property deed has your name or your parents, then either you or your parents will have ownership to that property.

Thanks.
