i signed a quit claim deed to my ex wife today (with assurance the she was refinancing the home loan to remove my name from the loan). however, after we signed and had it notarized, she has not provided me with copies of the loan documents that shows the mortgage has been refinanced (under solely her name) and i would like to stop the recording of the deed. how do i do that? time is of the essence. i don't think the deed has been recorded since we just signed the documents at 5pm this evening.
Hi rissaed!
Welcome to forums!
As you've already signed the deed, it's her discretion whether or not she would stop the recording of the deed. If she does not record the deed, then you would still remain the owner of the property. You can contact a real estate attorney and check out his opinion in this regard. However, I would suggest you to contact your ex-wife and check out when she will be sending the copies of loan documents to you.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
