will i have to pay more if i didnt file a quit claim deed

Posted on: 11th Nov, 2008 07:15 pm
i divorced 5 years ago. i took the house and paid her $50,000 from an equity line of credit. we have never filed a quit claim deed, or refinanced until recently to get her off the home, however the home is worth alot more now then when i paid her. can she come after more money since we never did the quit claim deed?
Hi sunnyrae!

Welcome to forums!

If the divorce decree mentions that the property will be yours, then she cannot have rights to the property and thus cannot claim it. But if its not mentioned in the divorce decree, then she can claim more money from it. However, it would have been better if you would have made her quitclaim it to you.

Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
