In 2001-2002 my recently now x-husband's parents quick claimed what was sapose to be 1 acre piece of there 11 acres but it had not been sub-divided when we went to the county to have the property sub-divided the county rejected it. I recently found out that from 2002-2011the entire 11 acres was registered w/the county in my x's n my name. In 2011 county records show that it was quick claimed to my in laws but w/there names slightly altered (ie-mother in law hyphened her maiden n married last name n my father in law had his first name legally changed few years earlier) but I did NOT sign any paper work including a quick claim deed. Also come to find out even though I made monthly payments totaling $10,000.00 she put it down in the quick claim n on there yearly tax's as a gift, I have proof of that in the form of receipts wher signature n cancelled checks. My question is it that even legal. Pls I need help despite being disabled I finally had courage to leave n divorce my husband (it was a really bad situation) after 30 surgeries I walk away from every thing I was homeless for a couple mo n I couldn't afford an attorney n because of that was basically forced to sign the divorce papers giving him custody of our daughter n giving him our home n all of our belongings n now he wont let me see my daughter hardly at all making her lie to me about school activities n events even though we have a perenting plain please I need help
Hi dae,
I can understand you are in a tough situation. As far as the land is concerned, I don't think the whole thing was legal. You should immediately get in touch with a real estate attorney and take his opinion in this regard.
Thanks

Hi dae!

You should contact the county recorder's office and check out if your name is mentioned on the deed as an owner. This will help you know about the ownership of the property.
