My dad signed for us a house through an FHA loan how can he add. My name to the deed? I didn't make enough to get put on the loan and my husband didn't have proof of working long enough so we couldn't get approved so my dad signed for us but to lower our taxes we want to put my name on the deed can we do that with an FHA loan? And if we can, can I claim the 8,000 credit?
Hi danawhaler,
You will have to ask your father to sign a quitclaim deed and add your name to the property deed. Once he does so, then you will be able to get a FHA loan. However, you won't be able to get the first time buyers tax credit as it has ended on September 30th, 2010.
Thanks

We baught the house a yearr ago and they said we have three years to claim it but since my name isn't on the mortgage just on the deed can we apply for it or does he still have to apply for the 6800? Oh and thank u for your answer
Welcome Guest,
If your name is on the property deed, then you may be able to claim the tax credit. Nevertheless, you should contact a tax adviser and take his opinion in this matter.
