signed a quit claim deed of the home to ex-wife and paying the 2009 taxes...if i sign the quit claim deed transferring interest of the home to my ex-wife, but i agree to pay the 2009 real estate taxes can i file the taxes on my 2009 tax return.
Hi jackhdarrough,

When you sign a quitclaim deed the ownership of the property is taken over by the grantee. He now becomes the liable for all kind of taxes related to the property. Thus, I don't think you can file the taxes on your 2009 tax return as after quitclaim you would no longer be the owner of the property.
