i quit claimed a house to my husband in 2007 due to a divorce. i just found out that the house is being foreclosed on and it is showing up on my credit. can i use the quit claim deed and the divorce degree that shows that property was given to him as part of the settlement to get the foreclosure off my credit? if not what can i do?
hi dldf!
welcome to forums!
though you quit claimed the property to your husband, i guess he did not refinance the loan in his name. as the loan still remains in your name, the foreclosure will be mentioned in your credit report. this will affect in your credit score in a negative way.
feel free to ask if you've further queries.

I can dispute it with the credit reporting agencies, correct? Do they ever remove it with a copy of the deed? Is there anything that I can do?
Hi dldf,
You can dispute it with the credit reporting agency but I don't think it would be of much help if your name was on the mortgage docs.
Thanks
