quit claim deed

Posted on: 16th Sep, 2009 06:02 am
if my father in law does a quit claim deed to himself and my husband to add my husband to the title of his home for estate purposes, would my father in law's property be subject to possible future liability? for instance...lawsuits, debts etc, which were incurred by my husband only?
Hi jan,

Once your father-in-law adds your husband to the property deed, he will be the owner of the property. So, if he is subject to any lawsuit or debts, the creditors can place lien on the property.
