my father passed away a year ago. he did not leave a will or living trust. the only thing he left is something called a holographic will. he verbally told all my brothers, sisters, and neighbors that i was to have his house. i cant afford the cost of probate. so my question to you. will quit claim forms signed by my family memebers make the deed transfer, more affordable?
Hi mary!
As far as I know, holographic will is valid in a very few states. You should first find out if the will is valid in your state or not. In case it is not valid, then you can file an affidavit of heirship in the county recorder's office and transfer the property in your name.
Thanks.

Hi mary!
Welcome to forums!
As far as I know, you will have to go through probate as your father has made a will. The executor of your fathers estate needs to do that. It will be the estate who will bear the cost and not you. So you need to talk to whoever is named Executor in that will.
Feel free to ask if you have further queries.
