is the sign date the effective date for a quit claim deed?

is a quit claim deed effective at date of signing, before it is recorded? it will be recorded at a couple of weeks later. when exactly does my ownership begin?
your ownership takes effect once it has been given to you; in other words, the date on which the deed is signed. the recording date is just that - a recording date.

Hi

Ownership is transferred as soon as the grantor signs the deed and it is notarized. Recording is done just to make sure that the change in ownership reflects on the public records.

Typically, how long is it between a deed being transferred and a recording of a mortgage? Is there any maximum time allowed to record a deed transfer?

these things should be done same day. there is no real excuse for a delay, frankly. it can only cause upsets later.
