Mortgage interest

Posted on: 03rd Feb, 2009 01:14 pm
Hello, I did a quick claim deed on a property. I am fully responsible for the property including paying the mortgage, taxes, insurance and all other expenses. The mortgage is still under the previous owners name. Can I claim the interest on the mortgage although I am not on the mortgage? I appreciate your asisants...thank you
Hi,

As far as I know, since the mortgage is still under the previous owner's name, you cannot claim the interest on mortgage. To claim the interest you got to have your name in both the title of the property and the mortgage.

Please go ahead and post further queries, if you have any.

Be cheerful & keep smiling.
