Quitclaim deed and interest paid for income tax purposes

Posted on: 30th Sep, 2010 04:19 pm
My husband and i divorced in 2009. He is keeping the house. I quitclaim deeded him the house, but my name is still on the note. Can i claim any of the interest as part of taxes?
Hi CW,

Unless your ex-husband refinances the mortgage in his name, you won't be able to remove your name from the mortgage note. As your name is on the note and if you're paying the mortgage, then you can claim interest payment deductions on your taxes.

Thanks
