Hi carmen,

If your name is on the property deed, you own a share of that property. The other heirs of the deceased person will be able to claim the deceased person's share of the property. If you're the sole heir, then you can file an affidavit of heirship and get the property transferred in your name.

Thanks

Hi carmen,

It seems that it was decided that you will be added on the deed through quitclaim after 3 yrs from purchase of the property. But if this process is not yet completed and the person who currently hold the deed is no more then you can hardly do anything about it.

But if the property has already been transferred to you through quitclaim deed, then you don't have to do any thing to claim the ownership of the property.Because with the effect of quitclaim deed filing, eventually you are the partial or full owner of the property.(as described in the quitclaim deed)..

If you are successor of the person who died, who holds the current deed, then you can file an affidavit of heirship and surely it can be transferred t you & your siblings.

Feel free to ask any further query if you have.....
