IRS and quit clain deed

Posted on: 19th Aug, 2010 06:52 pm
i currently own my house and property free and clear.

i owe the irs more than it is worth.
if i quit claim deed my home and property to someone else in the family, can the irs take it?
Welcome Guest,

The IRS can place a lien on the property due to the back taxes. If you do not pay the dues on time, they can even go for a tax sale of the property. If you transfer the property to someone else, then that person would become liable for paying off the back taxes.
