legal rights to property

Posted on: 23rd May, 2009 06:48 am
before dying, my grandmother signed a quit deed claim over to me. she has an adopted son who was cut out of the will due to stealing money and cds from her. policed reports and a detective was hired to find him. he did leave a paper trail. now he is back and has retained a lawyer to try and take over the proper. what are my rights?
Since quitclaim deed is signed by the owner (your grandmother), now you are the legal owner of property.

Has he served any legal notice to you?

Hi njmmcd,

You are the owner of the property as your grandmother had transferred the property to you. I hope the deed is notarized and recorded. The deed will be considered valid only if it is notarized and recorded.

I think latest deed is valid as per law.
If your grandmother transfered property to you then need not worry.
