AVOIDING FUTURE PROPERTY DISPUTES AMONG SIBLING CHILDREN

Posted on: 28th Feb, 2009 03:48 pm
MY HUSBAND AND i OWN PROPERTY - FREE AND CLEAR. WE HAVE 3 CHILDREN BETWEEN US, TWO ARE HIS AND ONE IS MINE (NATURAL CHILDREN). HIS CHILDREN HAVE NO INTEREST IN THIS PROPERTY JUST LIFE INSURANCE - THE OTHER CHILD RESIDES ON THE PROPERY ALSO AND HAS ALWAYS HELPED WITH UPKEEP, ETC. WE WANT TO ADD HER NAME ON THE DEED TO INSURE NO PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE WITH THE OTHER CHILDREN. THEY ARE GETTING EQUAL AMOUNTS IN LIFE INSURANCE VERSUS PROPERTY. HOW DO WE DO THIS ?
Hi TOMAHAWKISME,

As you have mentioned the property is free and clear and the two of the three children have no interest in the property, you can easily add your daughter (natural children) to the title through a quit claim deed.

Thanks,

Jerry
