I have been divorced since jan 22, 08. I am owner of the home and my ex is co-brower...the only thing is the market is bad right now and we have lowered the price. No one is wanting to buy right now...I could use the money from the house, but I feel my ex is being a pain in the you know where. and i don't want to deal with him anymore..I moved out a couple of months ago because of the conflict of interest...I still pay for one of the house loans every month...I really could use that money to get back on my feet. I really don't want to do a Quitclaim Deed but I feel it's the only way out and then I don't have to deal with my jerky ex...
So my question is even if I am the first person on the house/loan etc. can I still file for a quitclaim deed or is it not worth my time and money to do so...
Thanks for your help!

Hi Shelley.
Welcome to the forum.
You can quitclaim but that will only transfer the property to your ex husband. So your name removed from the mortgage your ex needs to refinance the mortgage on his name only. You need to talk with your lender also and take his consent before quitclaiming the property.
Feel free to ask if you have any more questions
.
Best of luck,
Larry

DO NOT Quitclaim
You will give up your rights but not your responsibility.
Good Luck

you can remove your name from the title of property, that is separated from the mortgage. you will have to be responsibility for your mortgage.
