if a quit claim deed is not signed in front of a notary is it legal. my mother and sister owned property together. my mother died in 2009 and my sister died in 2010. for some reason a neighbor's name is on the deed now claiming that my mother promised her the property years ago. it is no way possible my mother or sister signed the deed. i have the original copy of the deed. what should i do to get her to reverse what she have done.
Welcome nancy,
Unless the quitclaim deed is signed in front of the notary, I don't think it will be considered as legal. But if the neighbor's name is mentioned on the property deed, then the neighbor will be considered as one of the owners of the property. Unless the neighbor signs the deed in your name, you cannot reverse the deed.
