I need some advice, please. I have a quitclaim deed, life estate signed over to my sister and I from my parents. The surviving parents needs a nursing home eventually. Can the state take the property deeded to us for the care of her at the nursing home?
Hi Susan,
As the property has been quitclaimed to you and your sister, then both of you are the owners of the property. However, your parents do have the rights to live in the property until death. In that case, I don't think the nursing will come after the property for any unpaid bills.
