I HAVE LIVED WITH MY MOTHER IN HER HOUSE FOR 5 YEARS. I MOVED IN AFTER MY FATHER DIED TO TAKE CARE OF HER. SHE WILL BE NEEDING A NURSING HOME IN THE FUTURE. IF WE QUICK CLAIM HER DEED NOW, WILL THE NURSING HOME BE ABLE TO FORCE US TO SELL HER HOUSE TO PAY FOR HER STAY THERE?
Hi JBOGER,
As far as I know any property transfer within a look-back period of 5 years will attract a penalty and can make the grantor ineligible for a certain period of time depending on the value of the property trasferred.
